Early in 1994 Joan Murray
was invited to take a group of dancers to France to represent
Canada at the International Folk Festival in Nontron.
This was the origin of TARTAN PRIDE. Joan , twelve
dancers and piper Jim McWilliams travelled to Paris in July,
then to Nontron, Perigord, and the Dordogne Valley to
entertain daily alongside entertainers from Poland,
Switzerland, and France. Then it was off to Biarritz to
perform and relax on its famous beaches. What a start to
a wonderful tradition! |
